Afro Opera Production, Kuumba Dancers~Drummers, Cultural Arts Center, and friends’ presents: “Songs of the Soil, Songs of the Soul: An Afro Opera Experience”—a powerful Juneteenth concert on June 14 from 4–6 PM at the Tampa Heights Community Center (2005 N. Lamar Avenue, Tampa, FL 33602).

This dynamic performance will take audiences on a musical journey through the African diaspora. The evening will open with guest artist Andrew Egbuchiem, a lovely countertenor being flown in from New York, but originally from Nigeria. He will honor the roots of Africa through operatic selections in his native language. The program will then transition into spirituals performed by soprano Maiya Stevenson, and solo dance artist Katurah Robinson, reflecting the history of oppression and slavery. The concert will culminate in a vibrant celebration of liberation, featuring the Kumba Dancers~Drummers.
